RS485Bridge with RJ45 for Renogy

What is it?

RS485Bridge is a versatile RS485 to WiFi bridge, designed to seamlessly connect to your Renogy Charge Controller, Renogy Smart Lithium Battery, EPEVER charge controller, and even other RS485 devices via RJ45 or screw terminal. The device makes the data of these devices available over WiFi, enabling monitoring and control through multiple platforms. You can access real-time data through a robust web interface (also supported in Access Point mode), automatically upload data to [PVOutput](http://pvoutput.org), or send it to your local MQTT Broker.

This updated version features a QWIIC connector, which further expands its capabilities by allowing easy integration with additional sensors and devices.

Why did you make it?

I wanted a straightforward and efficient way to remotely monitor and control my Renogy charge controller, while also integrating its data into my home automation system via MQTT and uploading to [PVOutput](http://pvoutput.org). This solution ensures that I can always check up on my system, even when I'm away on vacation.

What makes it special?

This product is distinguished by its comprehensive feature set and ease of integration:

  • Multi-Device Compatibility: Works with Renogy, EPEVER, and other RS485 devices.
  • Flexible Data Access: Supports Home Assistant, MQTT, PVOutput, and a web interface (depends on device).
  • Enhanced Control: Three open collector outputs for versatile automation tasks.
  • Expandable: QWIIC connector for easy integration with additional sensors and devices.
  • User-Friendly Interface: Real-time data updates, intuitive controls, and detailed system information.

Further Information

Compatability

Please take a look at the compatability list found here before ordering. Also keep in mind that this is an open source project so some things might not work as expected.

The buck converter is optional, because some charge controllers provide 5V directly. The PCB can be configured to be powered with the buck converter (either 5V or 3.3V) or directly with 5V or 3.3V. Configuration can be done by soldering/desoldering specific bridges. The PCB is preconfigured to work with the buck converter. To bypass the buck converter and power the PCB directly solder the "Bypass" bridge also labelled "JP1". To select the correct voltage either solder the left half of the solder bridge labelled "JP2" for 5V or the right half for 3.3V. The halfes are also labelled "5V" and "3V" respectively.

Software

The device is shipped without preprogrammed software. To install it you can use the webinstaller and then follow the comissioning guide.
