Based on the Sony IMX500 intelligent vision sensor, the Raspberry Pi AI Camera brings low-latency, high-performance AI capabilities to any camera application. The camera module is tightly integrated with the Raspberry Pi camera software stack, simplifying the process of users deploying custom neural network models.
This compact camera module combines a 12-megapixel CMOS image sensor with a built-in inference accelerator using the Sony IMX500 intelligent vision sensor. It supports various common neural network models, allowing developers to build complex visual AI applications without additional hardware accelerators easily.
The AI Camera can seamlessly add tensor metadata to captured pictures and videos, freeing up the Raspberry Pi host processor to handle other tasks. With tensor metadata support in the libcamera and Picamera2 libraries and the rpicam-apps application suite, the camera lowers the barrier to entry for beginners while providing powerful features and flexibility for advanced users.
