An open-hardware, WiFi-controlled drone — Ready to fly for hobbyists & tech enthusiasts, fully programmable for engineers and makers.

Drones shouldn’t be complicated or expensive. With LiteWing, our goal is to create a drone that anyone can enjoy, from tech-savvy engineers to everyday hobbyists. Whether you’re into DIY projects, want a cool new gadget, or are simply looking for an affordable way to start flying, LiteWing is for you. It’s more than just a drone; it’s an invitation to explore, create, and have fun.

Why LiteWing?

Minimalistic and Affordable: LiteWing is all about simplicity. We’ve stripped down the design to the essentials, using a PCB as the frame, which keeps it lightweight, easy to assemble, and, most importantly, affordable for everyone.

Ready to Fly, Right Out of the Box: You don’t need to be an expert to enjoy LiteWing. With a straightforward setup and mobile control, you can start flying in no time, even if you’ve never flown a drone before.

Mobile Control: Forget bulky remotes. LiteWing connects to your smartphone, giving you a seamless and intuitive flying experience that’s perfect for beginners and pros alike.

Open Source for Endless Possibilities: For those who love to tinker, LiteWing's open-source firmware (based on Crazyflie) offers endless customization options. But if you’re just here for the fun, it works perfectly right out of the box!

The heart of this DIY drone is the ESP32 microcontroller, known for its versatility and power efficiency. The ESP32 not only provides WiFi connectivity but also serves as the drone's central processing unit, handling all the necessary computations for stable flight. Coupled with the MPU6050 IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), which combines a 3-axis gyroscope and a 3-axis accelerometer, the drone maintains its stability and orientation with precision.

The drone is powered by four coreless motors, which are lightweight and provide the thrust needed for lift and maneuverability. These motors are controlled through an H-bridge circuit, allowing for fine-tuned speed adjustments to achieve smooth and precise control over the drone's movement. The entire assembly is mounted on a minimalistic PCB frame that not only serves as the structural base but also houses the circuitry, keeping the design clean and compact. This combination of carefully selected hardware components ensures that the drone is both durable and capable, providing an excellent balance between performance and simplicity.
