ESP8266 is a highly integrated chip with Integrated TCP/IP protocol stack. It offers a complete and self-contained WiFi networking solution, allowing it to either host the application or to offload all WiFi networking functions from another application processor. The ESP8266 module is an extremely cost effective board with a huge, and ever growing, community.
Besides, ESP8266 has powerful on-board processing and storage capabilities that allow it to be integrated with sensors and other application specific devices through its GPIOs with minimal development up-front and minimal loading during runtime. Its high degree of on-chip integration allows for minimal external circuitry, and the entire solution, including front-end module, is designed to occupy minimal PCB area. There is an almost limitless fountain of information available for the ESP8266, all of which has been provided by amazing community support.
So here I would like to share three videos about projects on ESP8266 WIFI Board, and hope that they could be helpful for your projects on ESP8266.
Send Email From ESP8266 Using NodeMcu Firmware
In this video, you can send emails from your ESP WiFi module using NodeMcu, no other micro-controller is required and you will be able to use an Arduino controlled ESP8266 to access a web site and retrieve some data that you stored there earlier. To make it,
Crowtail- ESP8266 Node MCU and
ESP8266 IOT Board do help a lot !

ESP8266 NodeMCU RC car control over WiFi using RoboRemo app
In this video you could see the ESP8266 is to be Access Point, so you could connect the phone directly to it without router. The range is about 20m in open area, but I think that can be increased if you mount the ESP module at a higher place. To control it over internet, you need to configure ESP in Station mode, so it connects to router. Then you need to make port forwarding, and you need to know the IP address of the router. If you are interested, I recommend
Serial WIFI Transceiver Module ESP8266 for you to try!

Controlling Arduino UNO Lights over Internet via ESP8266 WiFi Module - IOT Internet of Things
From the video, you can see how Arduino can be controlled over Internet or WiFi,using the ESP8266 WiFi Module. And I wanna share it to you:
Elecrow ESPduino UNO+ESP8266 Wifi Board, with which you could make this project easily. It will help you a lot and save your time on the connection. It combines a Arduino UNO with a serial WiFi and can be applied on lots of project of IOT, such as Smart Home, Smart robot, Security system. The same size with more powerful functions, this two in one board must give you surprise a lot !
